WELCOME TO MOUNT ISA AFL WEB SITE
WELCOME TO MOUNT ISA AFL WEB SITE The Mount Isa AFL play a Premiership season consisting of a five senior team competition, The Buffaloes, The Tigers & the Rovers who are based in Mount Isa and we have the Lake Nash Bulldogs & Mighty Bats who travel 500 kilometres to & from Mount Isa to play each Sunday, in 2007 not missing a game!

The games are played on the Sunset oval on Able Smith Parade. This is an interim oval until our new multi purpose sports venue is operational in late 2008. Games are played at 12.30pm & 2.30pm on Sundays with a team having a bye each week. There isn't a gate fee, there is a busy little canteen & drinking of alcohol isn't permitted at the oval but we do have a couple of great games of Aussie rules. The finals will be played at AFL Park in Sportsman's Parade.

REC FOOTY is new for Aussie rules with girls / ladies & guys playing a social game; these games will be played on Tony White oval near the Irish club still to be decided should know next week in April. If your new to town what a better way to meet new friends with Julia Price from AFLQ going through the rules. We enjoy great support from the North West star in Previews & reviews. ABC North West radio with Saturday mornings sports with Bruce Underwood, Mob FM with weekly footy reports & Southern Cross Broadcasting television.

In 2008 the Mount Isa AFL has Micheal King as the AUSKICK / Junior development Officer to look after the kids, school footy, assist with the umpires & REC FOOTY. Our game day umpires are people from each of the clubs, we are always looking for help here so if you don't want to play, have a go as an umpire or assisting role. We have junior matches / training on Sunday mornings and the senior players rotate to set up / pack up the day for the kids along with assisting with the games.

The AUSKICK clinics will be held at St Josephs Catholic school in Happy Valley (Tigers), The Sunset State school ( Rovers ) in Sunset & the Barkly Highway State school in Soldiers Hill (Buffs ). The league is hopeful to have a few clinics at Lake Nash also this year. Parents are always encouraged to join in with the Kids. Each of the schools thanks to AFL Queensland has a new set of AFL goal posts. Fees for AUSKICK at the schools will be $50?? And $10 extra allows your child to play on Sundays.

The Tigers train on Tony White oval, The Buffs at Townies league club & the Rovers at the Rugby union oval off Alma Street. The league is in discussion with the Barkly league to play a representative game in Tennant Creek. The Rodeo weekend is a bye and we hope to have another float in the Mardi gras after winning best senior float in 2007. We have a League Best & Fairest dinner, to award the John Cargill medal, the Tony White medal for goal kicker, The Paul White medal for best a field in the grand final & acknowledge the support received for the season.
